According to my investigation, Fen Ngai is a quiet, unassuming woman who works long hours at an esteemed publishing house. She is regarded amiably by her housemates and coworkers as a diligent and serious woman. Often works in a nearby café during the day.

Little is known of her life before she moved into Carr House five years ago. I have found a few records of her attendance at a local high school and college. Information about her immediate family is limited. Fen does not appear to be in contact with any relatives.

Unexpectedly seems to be familiar with Kags, often being allowed to hang out with her skateboarding group despite not participating herself. I did not observe any discomfort or fear in these interactions; rather, they seem to treat each other as close friends. I’m puzzled by their acquaintanceship, and have only been able to confirm that they met a few years ago following Fen’s move to Carr House. There are no other commonalities between the two.

Fen will occasionally disappear to restricted or unknown locations. I have no evidence of suspicious activity occurring during these times, and can only assume they are normal parts of her private life. However, her links to Carr House, Kags, and other potentially unsavory or dangerous individuals warrant further investigation. I must stay vigilant and leave no stone unturned.

Several days ago on 5/5/20XX, Fen was hospitalized for an accident that appears to have left her with retrograde amnesia. Details are scarce, but from what I’ve gathered, she suffered severe physical injuries following a localized explosion in her bedroom. Early news reports claim a maintenance issue led to a gas leak though Dr. Carr denies any negligence.

Recent evidence suggests that this may have been an attempt on her life... This could be much, much bigger than I initially thought. I must investigate further.

Kags, real name unknown, is a mainstay of skateparks and alleyways in the city. She is the de facto leader of a band of rebellious skateboarders and is associated with various other like-minded groups.

Estimated 5’6” in height. Often wears a trademark beanie over short black hair.

On the surface, Kags appears to be a charismatic, cheerful woman in her mid to late twenties. She spends most of her days roaming the city’s parks and streets with a loyal group of skaters, artists, and misfits. Her skills as a skateboarder and leader are deeply respected by her community. Nearly everyone in the underground and street scenes knows her name.

However, much about Kags is shrouded in mystery. Very few were willing to speak on what little they knew of her past, likely out of loyalty if not ignorance. Not one person I questioned knew her real name, age, or family status. Admittedly, my ability to gather information among her acquaintances may be limited, as while I believe I am in good standing with Kags herself, it is clear that many of those close to her think I am not to be trusted.

Her history is deliberately obscure. Even how exactly she rose to prominence within her community is unclear. What is clear is that she is well-connected to multiple suspicious groups known to trade in illicit activity, including racketeering, trafficking, and extortion. The extent to which Kags is personally involved is once again frustratingly unknown. These connections seem to be treated as an open secret within the scene, which fuel her status as an individual of significant influence. I believe the respect she is granted is the result of both her legitimate skill and charisma, as well as her extensive, and most importantly, dangerous connections. Kags clearly has power backed by shadowy sources.

Kags has been missing from public view for over two weeks, an unusually long disappearance. Those closest to her have remained tight-lipped about the situation. Speculation is rampant among my sources, though discussed only in hushed tones. Rumor has it that she was spotted at ***** Central Hospital. I am beginning to suspect a connection to the Fen Ngai’s explosion case. I will have to tread carefully.

Marcia Frost

A journalism major at the local university, Marcia is the newest resident of Carr House. Tall, walks with a confident stride. Frequently wears her long hair in a braid or ponytail.

The older of the Frost sisters, she is notably more confident and self-assured than the younger Myra. My first impressions of her were rather pleasant, though I’ve come to see that she is passionate and driven to the point of aggressiveness. Welcome traits for an investigative journalist, I’m sure. I see great similarities between us in our thirst for knowledge and justice.

Unfortunately, Marcia appears to be keenly interested in pursuing a career in the publishing industry, having taken an internship at Flamingo Order House last summer. As she tells it, she doesn’t have the guts for a career in investigative journalism and would prefer a steady job that allows her to stay with her sister. That’s her other defining trait; Marcia is intensely protective of Myra.

Marcia met Fen Ngai at her internship, and through Fen secured her current room at Carr House. Though I have no reason to believe Marcia has been involved with anything so far, it is good to have a close contact within the House.

Myra Frost

Myra is a student at the same university as her sister. Currently living in the dorms. Can be easily distinguished from Marcia through her posture alone.

The younger of the Frost sisters, Myra is nearly a carbon copy of Marcia. If not for their distinctive personalities, they could be mistaken for twins, with identical heights and other physical features. Where Marcia is confident, Myra is indecisive and insecure. I often see her slouching or flinching away from direct eye contact.

Marcia mentioned that Myra has interned at Blackwater Financial before, which I strongly suspect to be a key backer of several unscrupulous groups. I would like for her to share her experiences with me, but she’s been incredibly reticent about the whole thing. Unfortunately, this is one thing I can’t press Marcia for...

My older brother. Callous, cynical, charismatic. I strong suspect he, along with much of Blackwater Financial, is deeply involved with various criminal activities. Of course, he suspects that I suspect this, and my investigation has long been stymied across various fronts. We haven't talked one-on-one since ***'s death... Maybe whatever guilt he can still feel is eating away at the remnants of his heart.

I just know he had a hand in it. I have no real evidence yet, but mark my words, I'll prove his guilt... No matter how long it takes.
